George Hoar and Authur Hoar: Celtic
Music of two Brothers has some very unique arrangements of traditional Celtic tunes as
well as some interesting original tunes containing influences from a variety of other
genres of music. There are pieces on the CD that are very haunting such as teh
opening medley, "The Gallowglass/Geese in the Bog." "King of
Sprites" and "Barrack Hills" as well as other pieces which are charming
like "The Honeysuckle/The New Potatoes," "Tobin's Favorite/Humors of
Whiskey" and "Music Box." There are some Celtic Jazz fusion pieces
like "Poll Hapenny" and "The Harrier". (paraphrased from Celtic
Beat Review J.G.)
There are 30 English Dance pieces available on
The English Album, all well played with origianal arrangements and authentic
istrumentation. La Vota is very traditional while Fantasm presents an etherial
sound. All together, a unique collection of music for the English Dance.
