| Biography: "Mike Dugger was
a founding member of Scartaglen - one of the
premier American Celtic groups of the past 15
years.
With the release of his solo CD, he is
reasserting himself as one of America's most
talented Irish musicians. A
multi-instrumentalist, Mike has proven himself a
willing student of the 'pure drop'. In the early
days of Scartaglen, Mike started out as a
guitarist and vocalist and later moved on to
include tenor banjo and mandolin.
In 1985 he started to study the fiddle and
unmistakable talent was evident right from the
start. Michael wanted to learn all he could about
the different styles and forms of Irish fiddle
music - so he went straight to the best; he has
studied with the innovative master fiddler Eileen
Ivers, ex-Bothy and current Patrick Street
fiddler Kevin Burke, as well as the Mid-West's
own Rebecca Pringle. A gifted teacher himself,
Michael teaches fiddle and tenor banjo at the
celebrated Celtic Week of The Swannanoa Gathering
in North Carolina."
Review by Irish Traditional Music List,
Dublin:
" Over all, Mike has brought together a
complete collection of balanced, well-arranged,
compelling and utterly listenable music. The
engineering is superbly clean and the
instruments, which include various
combinations....are crisp and beautifully
articulated. Mike sings on several tracks and his
voice is mellow, assured, and engaging ...superb
musicians playing at their best.:" Reviewer:
